Job Description

As a Dispatch Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the movement of our fleet of trucks to ensure timely deliveries and exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will include planning, scheduling, and coordinating with drivers and customers while maintaining a high level of efficiency and professionalism in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Coordination:

Manage and coordinate the movement of a fleet of 30 trucks or more.

Assign routes and schedules to drivers based on customer orders and delivery requirements.

Monitor driver performance and adherence to schedules, providing guidance and support as needed.

Customer Communication:

Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates on delivery statuses and addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly and courteously.

Coordinate with customers to schedule deliveries and resolve any scheduling conflicts or issues that may arise.

Route Planning and Optimization:

Plan and optimize delivery routes to minimize fuel consumption, vehicle wear and tear, and overall delivery time.

Utilize route optimization software and tools to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Problem Solving:

Act quickly to address any disruptions or delays in delivery schedules, identifying alternative solutions to ensure minimal impact on customer satisfaction.

Troubleshoot and resolve logistical challenges in real-time, demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness.

Team Management:

Supervise a team of dispatchers and administrative staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among team members.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and safety standards.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address any potential hazards or violations.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in dispatching or logistics management, preferably in a similar capacity.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, customers, and team members.

Proficiency in logistics software and route optimization tools.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.

Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.

Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in logistics or transportation management preferred.
