About the Role:

Hertfordshire in partnership with Health Partners have opened a new home called “Cherry Tree Cottage” in Baldock this summer. This home will consist of a multidisciplinary team, including health, social care, and psychiatry experts, dedicated to supporting children in mental health crisis situations. The primary objective is to prevent hospital admissions, ensure timely discharge from hospital, and facilitate successful transitions to stable placements. “Cherry Tree Cottage” is an Ofsted registered children’s home operated through an integrated health and social care staffing model (HPFT and HCC Social Services) to provide care for looked-after children.

Responsibilities:

Nurturing Therapeutic Care:

Provide nurturing and therapeutic care to children who have experienced traumatic life events.
Assume a parental role, including tasks such as cooking, cleaning, school runs, organizing activities and appointments.
Prepare child-centered reports and documentation.

Shift-Based Duties:

Work on a shift basis, including late shifts, weekends, Bank Holidays, and sleep-in duties.
Adhere to assigned schedules and ensure the well-being and safety of the children during the shifts.

Compliance and Legislation:

Develop a deep understanding of key legislation, including Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
Familiarize yourself with Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) policies and local procedures.

Training and Development:

Participate in comprehensive training programs provided by the organization.
Stay updated on best practices and advancements in the field of residential child care.

Requirements:

No previous care or social work experience is required.
A thirst for learning and personal development.
Ability to connect with young people and build positive relationships.
Drive and commitment to help children realize their full potential.
Possess a full driving license and have access to a car for work purposes.
