A: There may be emphasis on the way during which a spring is used as a result of possession of a spring gaff in or inside 30 metres of any waters is prohibited. A spring gaff consists of any system which makes use of a mechanical spring, apart from the fishing rod underneath pressure, to set the hook for an angler.
Gadgets that use a rod underneath pressure to set the hook (e.g., “Jaw Jacker”), and never a spring gaff, are thought-about authorized for use in Ontario. Using a mouse lure to carry the rod underneath pressure is permitted. Utilizing a mouse lure to set the hook is in opposition to the legislation.
